Belarus cup winners Tsmoki Minsk took off for a winning start in the Eastern European Women`s basketball league, beating the 2016 Lithuanian champions Hoptrans Sirenos 69-63 on Thursday, October 5.

Viktoryia Hasper – the Victorious one – shined for the winners. Mighty center had 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the field in less than 16 minutes of action. She also grabbed four rebounds, made one assist and blocked one shot for a efficiency rating of 21.
Minsk`s American duo – Rachel Elise Theriot and Kai Afi James – were effective too. Nebraska Husker standout Theriot scored 13 points and dished five assists, while James debuted with 15 points and a team high nine rebounds.
Dovile Saurazaite scored 21 point on 9-of-14 shooting including 75% accuracy from the three point line. Her teammates didn`t matched Dovile`s efforts, connecting just 15-of-55 attempts.
The Dragons scored twice more points in the paint (28-14) despite a minimal loss in the battle of rebounds (40-41, offensive rebounds 11-17). They were also more successful, scoring more points in fast breaks (10-4).
Both teams were disciplined. Tsmoki Minsk turned the ball over 11 times, while Hoptrans Sirenos lost the ball one more time. The biggest difference was the shooting accuracy inside the three point line – Minsk players converted 56% of their two point attempts (27/48) compared to 37% for their opponents (17/45).
